I have enclosed screen shots hoping they may be of some use to someone. Previous to that we were using the Adobe.pc3(some may have this with their Adobe subscription).

We use the DWG to PDF.pc3 to plot full plan sets(using sheet set most of the time). I apologize if I'm chiming in late on this. I fail to understand the logic in forcing 20% of the screen real estate to be used by thumbnails as the 'default view.' Making it optional is certainly reasonable.Įven allowing the reader to remember your last viewed setting and hide it by default would be helpful. We are trying to find the least painful method of dealing with this.

This causes the job to fail or process incorrectly. We'd have to recode around the extra setting requirements of the individual 3rd part driver unless we find one that functions very similarly to DWG to PDF.

We are looking in to alternative, 3rd party PDF drivers, but the issue we encounter with these is, you have to define all sorts of output directories and file name settings that our VB.NEt code already handles. I'd like to find an alternative to the DWG to PDF.pc3 file that 'behaves' the same (except for the thumbnail embedding.) Does anyone know if there are any variables to change either one of wrote:Ĭan you modify your code and have a PDF editor remove the bookmarks pane? It'd be one extra step, but since you're automating everything it shouldn't be that much trouble.Ĭreating a batch job to remove the embedded thumbnails is something we are certainly looking into. And the fact that 2015 did not do it proves it is new to 2016. I'm using Acrobat Pro XI and nothing I can find in Acrobat changes this. I have already had a few people comment on this. I don't thing people that we are sending the pdf files to need to see the drawing name and the layout tab name as part of the page number. Prior to 2016, it just said page 1, 2, etc. Building 1-Elev1 and then page 2 will say Building 1-Elev2, etc. For example, if you made a pdf by Publishing 4 layouts from a drawing called "Building 1"and the layout tabs were called Elev1, Elev2, Elev3 and Elev4, the page number in Acrobat will display as: Then if you open the pdf on a totally different computer, it comes up with the thumbnail view visible by default, so it seems to be something the ACAD plotters are encoding into the pdf.Ģ) If you create a pdf in 2016, Adobe displays the page number as the page number followed by the drawing name followed by the layout tab name. I even tried using my DWG to PDF.pc3 from 2015 in 2016 and it still shows the thumbnail view by default. This makes me feel as though it must be something inside ACAD causing it. If I create the exact same pdf from the exact same drawing in 2015 or older, the thumbnail does not come up as default. It seems to happen whether I use DWG to PDF or one of the newer pdf plotters:ġ) Every time I open a pdf that was created in 2016, the thumbnail view on the left side is always visible.

I have noticed a difference between creating a pdf in 2015 and in 2016 and the differences are new in 2016.
